The Clark County School District is seeking astir $58,000 successful lawyer fees from 2 section parents aft a federal suit challenging its look disguise mandate was dismissed.

A U.S. District Court justice past period dismissed the lawsuit by filed successful August by parents Monica Branch-Noto and Tiffany Paulson connected behalf of their children.

The lawsuit, which named the schoolhouse district, Gov. Steve Sisolak and Attorney General Aaron Ford arsenic defendants, claimed that the district’s look disguise mandate intended to combat COVID-19 violated their law rights.

On the aforesaid time the lawsuit was dismissed, plaintiffs filed a announcement of appeal, according to online tribunal records.

In a 14-page question for lawyer fees submitted to the tribunal connected Wednesday, the schoolhouse territory said the lawsuit “should person ne'er been filed” and urged the tribunal to grant it $57,503 to screen its ineligible expenses.

“CCSD was forced to expend invaluable resources to support longstanding lawsuit instrumentality and precedent that enactment its quality to instrumentality schoolhouse policies to support the students (it) serves,” it said successful tribunal documents.

The territory alleged plaintiffs knew their enactment was “unsupported by longstanding ineligible precedent” and that claims were “frivolous.”

The schoolhouse territory did not respond to a petition for remark by deadline Friday.

Plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Sigal Chattah, a Republican campaigner for lawyer general, and Joey Gilbert, who’s seeking the Republican information for governor. Both person filed different lawsuits warring COVID-19-related mandates.
